COMMUNITY PARTNERS

Fueling Kids’ Futures is a volunteer-run program dedicated to ensuring that no child in our school district goes hungry over the weekend. Now entering its 13th year, FKF-WBKH raises funds, orders, packs, and delivers bags filled with six non-perishable meals to send home with children in need every weekend. Last school year, FKF-WBKH packed and delivered over 69,000 weekend-meals to more than 300 students across the West Bloomfield School District. We proudly serve Doherty, Gretchko, Scotch, and Sheiko Elementary Schools, West Bloomfield Middle and High Schools, Oakland Early College, and the West Bloomfield Transition Center.
Our packing sessions for the 2024-2025 school year will begin in October. Volunteers are currently setting up operations in our new temporary location at Sheiko Elementary, located at 3380 Orchard Lake Road, Orchard Lake, MI 48324.
We deeply appreciate all our supporters—whether you’ve made a monetary or food donation or volunteered your time. We simply could not do what we do without your invaluable support.

Fueling Kids’ Futures Supports Oakland Hope This Summer
School may be out for the summer, but Fueling Kids’ Futures-West Bloomfield/Keego Harbor continues working to fight hunger in our community. This summer, we partnered with Oakland Hope to help stock the shelves of their food pantry, ensuring families of the children we assist have access to the essentials they need during the summer months.
With the help of Costco, Fueling Kids’ Futures-West Bloomfield/Keego Harbor provided Oakland Hope with the needed food for the months of July and August—helping thousands of families receive free groceries during the summer months.
During our visit, we were inspired by the incredible work being done at this facility and grateful for the opportunity to take a tour and see their mission in action. We look forward to returning as volunteers to further support their efforts and continue our shared goal of feeding those in need.
Norma J. Okonski, Founder & Executive Director of Oakland HOPE, shared:
“Thank you all so much for thinking and sharing your resources with Oakland HOPE. Your generosity is helping us serve hundreds of families with FREE groceries each week We couldn’t do what we do without you.”

In a heartwarming collaboration, West Bloomfield- Keego Harbor Fueling Kids’ Futures is thrilled to announce a meaningful partnership with The Tom Kowalski Foundation. This alliance comes on the heels of a very generous donation from The Tom Kowalski Foundation’s “Killer Cares” event, held in December 2023 at The Lodge in Keego Harbor.
The Tom Kowalski Foundation, established in honor of a remarkable individual who dedicated much of his life to helping children in need, has been a steadfast supporter of students in the West Bloomfield/Keego Harbor school district for many years. Tom Kowalski’s legacy lives on through the foundation, which has consistently raised funds to address emergency needs and provide holiday assistance to local students.
