ONE MEAL AT A TIME

Any size donation will be appreciated. Your contribution along with other contributions will assist in feeding food insecure children over the weekend right in your own community.

Fueling Kids’ Futures

Programs in Michigan administered by the Community Foundation of Greater Rochester

Fueling Kids’ Futures is a “neighbor-helping-neighbor” program that is designed to help meet the nutritional needs of school-age children.

Each week, volunteers, in cooperation with school officials, distribute bags filled with enough non-perishable food for the weekend (six meals) to “hunger insecure” school-age children.  These students are participants in the government subsidized Free or Reduced Fee Lunch Program.

The goal of the Fueling Kids’ Futures program is to keep these children from going hungry on the weekends and remove barriers to academic success.

Fueling Kids’ Futures is pleased to announce Sam’s Club, as the program’s Food Partner. We are working closely with the Clubs in Auburn Hills, Madison Heights, Novi, Roseville, Southgate and Utica.

In all of the communities who make up Fueling Kids’ Futures, volunteers every week during the school year, ensure the hunger-insecure school-age children in their respective communities have food to take home with them on Friday. These children have a better weekend because of having food to eat. We know that children that show up to school healthy and well-nourish learn better. They are more likely to attend school and take advantage of educational opportunities. By doing so they have a chance for a better future by becoming contributing members of their communities.

Mother Teresa said “If you cannot feed a hundred people, feed one”. Feeding a child is a simple thing that can be taken for granted. But, for the children served by the Fueling Kids’ Futures program and their families, a year’s bags of food can be life-changing.

Thank you, to Sam’s Club for caring about these children and their futures as much as we do.

Sam’s Club is incredibly proud to support the Fueling Kids’ Futures program and partner with the Community Foundation of Greater Rochester, an organization that shares our deep commitment to making a positive impact in the community. Together, by combining our resources and efforts, we are taking meaningful steps to reduce the number of children facing food insecurity throughout Southeast Michigan. We look forward to the difference we can make together in helping to build stronger, healthier communities for the future
