PROGRAM MODEL

Administered by Community Foundation of Greater Rochester, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization

When starting a Fueling Kids’ Futures program all we ask is that you have a desire to help the children within your community have a better future. While collaborating with the Community Foundation of Greater Rochester and the Fueling Kids’ Future Advisor you are receiving the necessary support while having the programs remain local. The money raised for these Michigan programs remains in Michigan for the operational expenses of existing programs. The Michigan Model of Fueling Kid’s Futures from the Advisor down to the local level is 100% volunteers. This allows us to maximize the money raised to feed school-age children on the weekends.

The FKF Advisor is available to collaborate closely with your committee to establish a program for food-insecure children in the community. We will ensure your program has the proper foundation and financial support to be successful. Once the program is operational and children are provided with food each week, we will assist your committee to establish community partners to maintain the existing schools and expand to additional schools within the community. By being able to attend your meetings, we can answer any questions you have in real time so you can continue moving forward.

To give the children variety in the food they receive each week a four-week menu is developed annually. The communities have also elected to pack for additional weeks when the children are on school breaks and not receiving the Free or Reduced Fee lunches. The cost per child for an entire school year of weekend food is $160. We work closely with Kroger who provides the food for the program.

Currently we are providing over 752,400 weekend meals each school year through the participating communities programs.
