Volunteers are needed to unload the truck and move the cases of food to the storage room and place them on the shelves in the proper locations. If you can assist with food deliveries, please Contact Us.

PACK BAGS

On a set day and time volunteers gather during the school year to pack the bags with food which go home with the students. If you would like to be one of the volunteers we would be interested in hearing from you, please Contact Us. You can volunteer weekly, monthly or as your schedule allows. If you are a coach, scout leader or a team leader for a company or an organization we would be interested in having your group volunteer in packing bags. We can schedule a mutually agreeable date.

TRANSPORT PACKED BINS TO SCHOOLS

After the bags are packed if using a central packing location within the community the packed bins need to be transported to the schools participating in the program. If you have the time and would like to assist with this very important task of getting the bags to the schools, we would be very thankful. You can be responsible for the bins for one school on a weekly basis or work in teams with other volunteers to rotate weeks. Contact Us if you are interested in this volunteer opportunity.

SERVE ON A STEERING COMMITTEE

The Steering Committee is an advisory group that has three main functions. These functions are:

  • Responsible for raising the funds necessary for beginning the program
  • Weekly operations of the program
  • Maintain sufficient funds to ensure the continued running of the program.

For a new program the committee meets once a month until the program is up and running smoothly. After that time meetings are scheduled less often, but not less then quarterly. Meetings usually last about an hour. Committees are made up of at least seven or more individual so that each person is responsible for one aspect of the program. This way no one person is overburdened with overseeing the program. If you are interested in hearing more about being a member of the steering committee for your community please, Contact Us.
