ACCESS TO A BOX TRUCK OR VAN

There are two areas within transportation where we need volunteers during the school year.

The first is transporting the pallets of food from the local Kroger to the packing site within the community. This task happens once a month and the date each month is scheduled for the entire school year. What is required is a box truck or van depending on the number or pallets to be picked up and a driver. The time commitment is approximately an hour each month.

The second is transporting the packed bins with the food from the packing site to the participating schools within the community. If you have the time and would like to assist with this very important task of getting the bags to the schools, we would be very thankful. You can be responsible for the bins for one school on a weekly basis or work in teams with other volunteers to rotate weeks. Contact Us if you are interested in this volunteer opportunity.

DONATE A LOCATION AS A PACKING SITE

Many communities have a room within a school building for Fueling Kids’ Futures to use as a packing site, but a few do not. In these cases, we require a location which has a room not being utilized with locking capabilities, a door to the outside or adjacent which can be donated to Fueling Kids’ Futures for use as a packing site. If you have such a space and would be willing to host a packing site as your contribution to the program, please Contact Us.

DONATE PACKING SITE EQUIPMENT

Each packing site requires some equipment to assist with the packing process. These items are as follows:

  • Shelving for the storage of a month’s supply of food for the program
  • Sturdy tables
  • Wheeled totes for transporting the packed bags
  • Plastic bins for storage of soft food items (not canned or boxed)
  • A few folding chairs

If you have any of these items which you are no longer using, consider donating them to your local Fueling Kids’ Futures program. New donations of equipment will also be accepted. Please Contact Us to see what equipment the local program needs.

MARKETING

Every program needs to get the word out to their community about the problem of childhood food-insecurities and the Fueling Kids’ Futures program. If you have marketing skills and would like to donate some time to assist your local program, we would appreciate hearing from you.
